del.icio.us, technorati, and library thing OH MY!!!

Overall I understand what this site does. Social bookmarking... categorizing in layman's terms... another way to tag online... giving you access to your bookmarks from any location... and sort of a reader's advisory for other websites and pages, basically other pages people recommend/relate to the one you are already looking at.

I like the fact that del.icio.us will allow you to find your bookmarks on any computer that's got internet access. This can come in handy when you have too many web addresses to remember but I don't think I'd want to sign up for another account on top of the other ones I already started while going through our 27things program because it's hard enough to remember everything else I signed up for.

For research purposes del.icio.us can be helpful because it gives you links to other related topics but after looking through some of the pages it seems like you could just go from one page to another in an endless cycle. Maybe you will find something relevant to what it is you're searching for but there are just so many new things to click on that someone like me would start getting overwhelmed after a while. Also I guess it could help you find people with similar interests.

Is it pronounced technoratty or technorotti? I just want to know because this site is one I'll mention to some of my friends. It was actually fun when I started to search the site for kcls27things. Unfortunately my blog or posts didn't appear but I was able to stumble upon a few of my fellow bloggers and coworkers pages. Maybe if I type in kcls27things more times my page will appear. Let's try that. kcls27things kcls27things kcls27things. Hmmm

When I searched for learning 2.0 a lot of other sites generated for all sorts of other programs that were using the same titles and terminology, some of them seemed interesting but since I didn't have time to browse I didn't look through any. And when I changed the blog directory type other results appeared which expanded the whole learning 2.0 world to me since each site had the words on it. I'm telling you people my mind is starting to overload with all of this new information and resources to tap. But I'm still havin fun learning thanks again kcls27things kcls27things kcls27things. ha ha Librarywise I can see technorati as another way of people to connect with our services as well.

This post just keeps getting longer and longer. Today I signed up for Library Thing, want to check out my books? Here you go http://www.librarything.com/catalog.php?view=grampa.mike I like this site. Another social networking place but with books as the connecting thread. When I finish reading a book and have nobody to talk to about it I can just get online here and chat it up with someone who I have never met already have something in common with because we've finished the same lame or excellent read.

And Library Thing keeps a list of everything you have read or might be reading. It also doubles as another reminder online in case you lose all your other lists of books and authors. If only more of our patrons knew of this site, then it wouldn't be necessary to ask us about a certain book where something like this happened to someone like that because of an event that occurred in a time of such things. Although having this online list would take the fun out of finding out what book it was they were referring to and the small talk in between, the benefit would be the time saved from not needing to search since everything should already be stored on a server somewhere sometime by somebody, I mean the patron, or I who made the list.
