# 9 MySpace. I've read about this site in magazines and have noticed it on many of the computer screens as I pass behind patrons while walking through the library. From what I understood, it seemed that someone of my age was probably too old to be using it. But for the library, I can see why it could be of good use. Since it is primarily a social networking site, the publicity and advertising possibilities itself would pay off. Many of the patrons (especially the teenagers and youth who tend to tune us library staff out) that use our computers check myspace as often as they would check their email so if a library's myspace was on their list of friends then they would be "in the know" as fast as we could post whatever it is we wanted to inform our patrons about. Even if we weren't on someone's list, they would still be able to check out the library's page just to keep up to date on things without having to lose their coolness by adding a library site to their list of friends. Plus, it's a free service, and the more people that would visit the library page adds to the possibility of even more popularity and awareness.
