Well since I was planning on adding more RSS feeds to my account, this exercise came in handy. I couldn't wait to see what other topics were out there for me to subscribe to. Since I already had bloglines open I just used their search to find my next RSS. Most of the websites I look at regularly don't have feeds because it's only email and my personal accounts but I did remember I've been considering getting a new cell phone and digital camera so finding cnet.com's feeds on those two specific items was a nice surprise.
From bloglines search I found cnet's site and located the XML icon and it led me to the feeds I needed. I guess the search could have been more direct but it still worked out for me so I can't complain. Topix.net's search pointed me to a library feed http://lisnews.org/ which isn't one of the exercise examples, so I will pat myself on the back for finding that one. And blogsearch.google.com steered me to http://tv.winelibrary.com/. Hey if library is in the title of the site, then that counts as library themed right? Either way I do have a thirst for knowledge regarding the world of wine so alls well that ends well.
Based on my actions, I don't have a preference on searching for a feed through a site or just finding out if the web pages I frequent have them. I mean it's nice to find new pages I haven't heard of but if one I already am aware of does have feeds then it's all good.
