Today I began to explore the world of flickr mashups. Just browsing through the list of mashups I decided to check out Retrievr based on the brief description--lets you find photos based on your sketching abilities. Now I can safely say I'm not much of an artist so out of curiosity I figured why not? With my minimal artistic ability I managed to create a basic smiley face, 2 dots for eyes, and a parenthesis symbol on it's side to create the mouth. As soon as I finished, a page of thumbnails with different faces, human and animal generated next to my sketch. I didn't know I was so talented. Add to that, I realized I could choose a different color and even more images appeared, this time in color. Pretty cool. Pretty cool. I need more time on this page to see what I can come up with next.
