Last May (2006) I went on holiday to Andalucia, the southern region of Spain. While I was there with my friends, we spent a day at the Rock of Gibraltar and met the resident monkeys/barbary apes. As long as they didn't touch me, the monkeys were cool. Some of them just hung out and didn't bother the tourists, but the other ones weren't so laid back. One of my friends actually got jumped on by one because she was holding an ice cream bar and the monkeys wanted it all to themselves. Though we were both too in shock to take a photo of the "monkey ambush" I was able to find an awesome picture taken by H!ghtower from on Flickr that shows the same type of monkey in action
